When to Replace Your Fuse Box

Our electrical systems are what power our entire home. It keeps the fridge running, powers the air conditioning, keeps the lights on, and allows us to charge our phones. Residential properties are all built at different times which means that electrical codes and standards may vary among houses in the same neighborhood. That can result in one home having a fuse box and another having a circuit breaker. Circuit breakers are the new standard for residential properties, but fuse boxes are okay to have. However, you should replace fuse boxes when you can. Here are a few signs that indicate you should replace your fuse box:

• Fuse Box Full: Your fuse box is an electrical conduit that routes electricity to different parts of your home. When you need additional circuits, you can install them. However, if you are out of space in your box, it is time to upgrade it to a circuit breaker.

• Your Fuse Box Has Asbestos Guard: We all know that asbestos is a dangerous substance. If it is anywhere in your home, including in your fuse box, you should get rid of it immediately.

• Constantly Blowing Fuses: Fuses cannot hold the same electrical load as electrical panels can. If you must constantly replace burnt-out fuses, it is time for a replacement.
